Randy S. Kester, the attorney representing the Franke family, emphasized that Kevin Franke’s top priority is ensuring the well-being and unity of his children under his paternal guidance,” the attorney stated to the publication on Thursday. When contacted by Insider for further inquiries, Kevin directed inquiries to his attorney, who had not responded to the request for comment at the time of the report.
Ruby Franke was taken into custody on Wednesday, facing allegations of two counts of aggravated child abuse following an incident in Ivins, Utah, where a child had to escape through a window to seek assistance. Additionally, Jodi Hildebrandt, Ruby’s business associate and a therapist with a license under probation, was also apprehended in connection with the incident. Both Ruby Franke and Hildebrandt have refrained from responding to inquiries from Insider.
Kevin Franke has maintained a low public profile in recent months, leaving the status of the couple’s relationship uncertain. While he was previously an associate professor at Brigham Young University in Utah, a spokesperson informed Insider that his employment concluded in the early spring.
Ruby Franke amassed a significant online following by sharing her experiences as a wife and mother of six children on her YouTube channel, 8 Passengers, starting around 2015. The channel reached its zenith with a subscriber count of 2.5 million. However, the channel’s content became sporadic before its eventual closure earlier this year.
Ruby Franke’s arrest occurred subsequent to allegations of child abuse made by viewers approximately three years ago.
The Frankes vehemently refuted the accusations and, in a 2020 interview with Insider, emphasized that they provided their children with ‘choices’ as part of their parenting approach, aiming to teach them about the consequences of their actions.
Ruby Franke stated, “There are natural consequences to every choice we make, and if we communicate these when children make poor choices in behavior, the learning is profound. This way, the child learns that their choices have a direct impact.
